TALLINN - According to the global militarization index, Israel is the most militarized state in the world while Estonia is the most militarized among the Baltic States, reports Delfi.
According to the data collected by the Bonn Research Center in 2011, Estonia was on the 35th place in the world in this respect, right after Iran. One of the main indicators that the index takes into consideration is the share of defense expenditures of GDP.
Latviais according to this index in the 94th and Lithuania on the 60th place. Russia is 4th after Israel, Singapore and Syria.
Since the index reflects the share of defense expenditures of GDP, the USA is only on the 30th place with its biggest in the world 689 billion dollar defense budget.
