RIGA - An active campaign informing the public about the introduction of the euro will begin next May and continue until mid-January of 2014, according to a report on the euro implementation communication strategy that was presented to government institutions' representatives on Thursday.
Several events will be organized at the end of this year - seminars for businessmen, public administration employees, IT experts, farmers, local government officials. Also, meetings will be held with representatives from non-governmental organizations and business associations.
The active phase of the campaign will begin next May and continue until mid-January of 2014, followed by the closing phase which will continue until the end of 2014.
The main activities planned for the campaign include a toll-free line, seminars and conferences, communication with the media, distributing information by mail to households and companies, a film about the euro for children and youth, methodological materials for teachers.
As reported, Latvia wants to adopt the euro in January 2014.
