VILNIUS - Since 62.68 percent of voters who took part in the referendum did not approve of the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Lithuania, Member of Parliament Linas Balsys proposes to repeal Visaginas NPP construction legislation.
"If the proposed draft law gets adopted then the construction of a new nuclear power plant will be prevented. Such decision is based on the referendum results," says the MP.
Balsys says that if his submitted proposition is supported the implementation of a project hazardous to Lithuania will be stopped, writes LETA/ELTA.
The referendum on the construction of a new nuclear power plant took place on Oct. 14, 2012. 62.68 percent of those participated in the referendum rejected the idea of nuclear power plant construction in Lithuania.
