RIGA - With the snowy and windy weather conditions, roads throughout Latvia have become slippery due to ice, which in turn has led to an increase in traffic accidents, LETA was informed by State Police Riga Region Department spokesman Toms Sadovskis.

By 10:00 a.m. this morning, police received a call out to 26 road accidents.

As reported, this morning, a bus from Estonia skidded off the Tallinn Highway at Adazi (central Latvia) and fell into a ditch; a 24-year-old woman died and four people sustained light injuries, LETA was informed by Emergency Medical Service representative Inga Vitola.

The injured - three men and a woman - had not sustained any serious injuries and did not require medical assistance, Vitola informed.
