Dzintars: government will not fall because of VL-TB/LNNK

RIGA - If the current Valdis Dombrovskis’ government falls, it will not be because of All for Latvia!-For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK (VL-TB/LNNK), the party leader Raivis Dzintars told the weekly news magazine Ir.

“If the government falls, it will be decided somewhere else and by somebody else,” Dzintars added, without mentioning any names. “I am careful with statements I cannot prove, but I see persons with such interests.”

He once again emphasized that VL-TB/LNNK's demands for increased financing to improve the demographic situation in the country is a desire to keep a party promise to voters, and is not an instrument to obtain political interests.

Meanwhile, Dzintars told the newspaper Diena that VL-TB/LNNK would like the offices of prime minister and finance minister in the government, but that this could only take place in the future. “In this government, a change in ministerial posts could threaten the coalition. We are most capable of defending our positions within the current coalition,” Dzintars said.

As reported, VL-TB/LNNK previously urged to allot 31.6 million lats (45 million euros) for solving demographic problems next year and warned its coalition partners that the alliance's support for next year's budget will depend on this request. After consulting with the Welfare Ministry, the amount was reduced to 16 millionlats.
