RIGA - Earlier this week, officers from the Criminal Police Department in Riga detained three teens between the ages of 15 to 16 who committed several drug and alcohol-fueled robberies and murders in Riga, reports LETA. As Riga Regional Criminal Police Department Chief Andrejs Sozinovs said in a press conference on Aug. 15, police received information the previous day about a body found in an apartment in the Riga suburb of Vecmilgravis. Upon arriving at the scene, police determined that the man died a violent death and had been robbed. That same day, Criminal Police officers detained three youths on suspicion of committing the murder.

“What we found out later was even more disturbing,” Sozinovs said. “The investigation into the crime revealed that this past Sunday, the teens were drinking alcohol and smoking synthetic marijuana, during which they killed one of their friends, who was also robbed. The trio hid the body in a forest near Vecmilgravis.”
The two men murdered were 20 and 52 years old.

According to Sozinovs, all three teens came from “normal families,” even though they all had previous run-ins with the law. A criminal process has been started.
