Former ambassador takes over Foreign Ministry

TALLINN - The guessing game finally ended Oct. 13 when President Lennart Meri appointed Raul Malk Estonia's new foreign minister and a member of the cabinet. A career diplomat and Estonia's ambassador to the UK, Malk, 46, was presented as a candidate for the post by Prime Minister Mart Siimann. The decision to appoint Malk was generally welcomed and hailed as a signal of continuity for Estonia's foreign policy.
