Ulmanis draws up NATO work list in Brussels

RIGA - Latvian President Guntis Ulmanis went to Brussels Oct. 15 to visit the NATO Alliance with a work list of tasks and policies to advance Latvia in its quest for NATO membership in his briefcase.A panel formed to achieve Latvia's integration into NATO accepted the goals at its first meeting Oct. 14. Prime Minister Guntars Krasts heads the NATO Integration Council, which also includes Foreign Minister Valdis Birkavs and Defense Minister Talavs Jundzis.
