RIGA - Latvian National Opera (LNO) choirs' trade union, after today's talks with management, declined to call off its strike. Management, meanwhile, said it will sit back and wait for the court's ruling on the strike's legality.
The choirs' union expressed its displeasure with the fact that Andrejs Zagars, LNO director, is not taking part in the talks. The union will therefore attempt to set up a separate meeting, writes LETA.
The choirs' grievances are low salaries, heavy work load and improper contracts. The singers intend to walk out on June 8 at 7 p.m.
