VILNIUS - Lithuania’s first chocolate museum will open on June 1 in the northern city of Siauliai, in a renovated building of the Ruta chocolate factory, reports ELTA.The history of the Ruta factory goes back to 1913, when a 36-year-old confectioner, Antanas Gricevicius, set up a caramel cooking pot in a small wooden house in Siauliai.Before the First World War, Siauliai was home to six confectionary factories owned by Russians, Germans, Jews and Poles.
