Vilnius International Airport (VIA) continues to show a steady upward trend in passenger numbers: in April 2012 passenger traffic soared by 39.4 percent compared to the same period last year, reports ELTA. In April the passenger volume amounted to 159,200 passengers; the number of flights equaled 2,515, showing a 17.6 percent increase. In the fourth month of this year, the most popular destinations among passengers were Frankfurt, Riga, Copenhagen, Tallinn, Helsinki and other cities. The preferred airlines among passengers were airBaltic, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Wizz Air, Ryanair and Small Planet Airlines. A holiday rhythm could already be sensed in the middle of spring. The seat occupancy on the regular flights to resort destinations, such as Barcelona, Paris, Rome, skyrocketed to 80 percent and more in April. In the first four months of this year, the airport handled 551,300 passengers, in contrast to 353,700 passengers in the same period in 2011.

The circulation of the larger Estonian daily newspapers has fluctuated a bit in the first four months of the year by a few thousand in different months, but has stayed generally stable, reports National Broadcasting. Postimees is still the biggest daily; its average circulation in April was 57,700 copies; in March it was 58,200, in February 57,800 and in January 58,200. The average number of printed copies of Ohtuleht has increased. In January it was 51,200, in February 6,000 more; in March it was 54,000 and April 53,600. The circulation of Eesti Paevaleht has been around 27,000 in the past few months; Aripaev’s in the range of 11,100 to 12,600. The peak times for the newspaper business during recent history date back to the spring of 2007, when Postimees had a circulation of nearly 69,000, Ohtuleht 65,000, Eesti Paevaleht 40,000 and Aripaev 26,000.
