RIGA - It is necessary to gradually increase Latvia’s defense budget to NATO’s requirement - 2 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) - believes Saeima Defense, Internal Affairs and Corruption Prevention Committee Chairman Ainars Latkovskis (Unity), reports LETA.According to a recent survey, however, 61 percent of economically-active Latvian residents do not see any reason for Latvia’s defense budget to be increased, Latkovskis told LETA.Latkovskis points out that Estonia is one of the few NATO member states that has met the alliance’s requirement already...
