Newborn left in baby box in Riga

RIGA - Another baby was left at the Children's Clinical University Hospital's baby box at around 11:30 p.m. on April 30, LETA learned from the hospital's representative Romena Namniece. This was already the 12th infant left at the hospital since the baby box system was introduced in the hospital.

The baby girl is two weeks old and weights 3.6 kilograms. She has been examined by doctors and seems healthy.

Overall, 16 infants have been left in baby boxes throughout the country so far - 12 in Riga, two in Liepaja, and two in Daugavpils.

At the moment, there are four baby boxes operating in Latvia - two in Riga, one in Liepaja and one in Daugavpils. A new baby box is planned to be unveiled at Rezekne Hospital tomorrow.
