Lithuania opens commercial representation in Israel

VILNIUS/JERUSALEM - On April 16, Lithuania's Ministry of Economy announced the appointment of its first commercial attache to Israel, the Jerusalem Post reports.

The attache will focus on promoting bilateral trade, attracting investments, promoting Lithuania as an attractive tourism destination, and representing the Lithuanian economy.

Bilateral trade between the two countries increased 60 percent in 2011, and the number of Israeli tourists traveling to Lithuania increased by 62 percent. Direct flights will begin to operate between Tel Aviv and Vilnius on June 20, 2012.
