Selga appointed Latvia's first ambassador to UAE

RIGA - Today, Latvian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Maris Selga presented letters of credence to UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Selga will be Latvia's first ambassador to the UAE, LETA was informed by the Foreign Ministry's press and information department.

The ambassador will reside in Cairo, Egypt.

"This step confirms that both countries are interested in strengthening bilateral cooperation in both economy and politics, allowing the Latvian Embassy to provide stronger support for those Latvian businessmen who want to operate in the UAE," said the ministry.

The diplomatic relations between Latvia and the UAE were established on Sept. 18, 1995.
