TALLINN – According to the latest Eurostat figures, Estonia’s inflation rate in January was 4.7 percent, which is the highest rate among eurozone countries, Estonian Public Broadcasting reports.

The country was followed by Slovakia (4.1 percent) and Portugal (3.4 percent).

Estonia's place at the top of the monthly list does not come as a surprise, as it had the highest eurozone inflation in 2011, despite taking the second and third position in November and December, respectively.

Estonia's January inflation ranked second highest among the 27 EU member states, coming in behind Hungary's 5.6 percent price rise.

Irelandregistered the lowest eurozone inflation rate last month (1.3 percent), while Sweden led EU-wide ranking list with 0.7 percent.
