VILNIUS - On Feb. 24, the World Trade Organization (WTO) General Council appointed Albinas Zananavicius Chairman of the Committee on Budget, Finance and Administration for one-year tenure.

The committee discuss and submit proposals concerning the organization budget to the General Council, make decision on the planning of the organization’s activities, structure of the staff and other economic matters, writes LETA/ELTA.

Major challenges for the committee in 2012 are to increase efficiency of the WTO's activities and maintain the organization budget's zero nominal growth.

The WTO unites 153 countries. Consolidated annual budget of the organization amounts to 560 million litas (162 million euros).
