Emigrants vigorously vote in referendum

LONDON - Latvian emigrants participated in the language referendum in record numbers. Thousands of people stood in long queues outside embassies in London, Dublin and other capitals. The total activity among citizens living abroad reached 73 percent, which means that 39,763 people cast a vote.  Almost 75 percent were against the amendments to the constitution.It might be the first time in history when so many of Latvia’s emigrants gathered together in London.
