Unemployment rate in Estonia increases

TALLINN - The number of registered unemployed people in Estonia climbed higher this week, over the 50,000 level, National Broadcasting cites Unemployment Insurance Fund data.

The number of registered unemployed has increased in 16 of the past 18 weeks.The number of registered jobless grew by 256 people in a week.

50,011 people or 7.7percent of the working age population has been registered as jobless as of Thursday evening.

Registered unemployment was the highest in Ida-Virumaa, 13.6percent and smallest in Tartumaa, 5.1percent.
