Estonia eyes prison reform

TALLINN - Estonia is looking to implement widespread prison reform that will both slash the number of prisoners in the country and make it more difficult for fugitives to escape justice.Estonian justice minister Kristen Michal told parliament that if Estonia wants to reach the average European level, the number of prisoners must fall dramatically, LETA/Delfi reports.“In the coming years we will not yet be near the average level of Europe in the number of prison inmates,” Michal said.He went on to add that we need to seek ways to reduce the number of prisoners.
