Edelaraudtee serviced a record amount of passengers in January

TALLINN - In January, the number of passengers transported on trains operated by Estonia’s largest passenger railway operator Edelaraudtee grew by 14 percent to the highest level in the past five years, National Broadcasting reports.

145,000 passengers travelled with the company's diesel trains in January.

The number of passengers was highest in the recently renovated Tallinn-Viljandi route (51,600) and Tallinn-Tartu route (40,000) which is popular among students.

Edelaraudtee travels on routes like Tallinn-Türi-Viljandi, Tallinn-Tartu-Valga, Tallinn-Pärnu, Tallinn-Narva and Tartu-Orava.
