Berzins congratulates new President of Finland

RIGA - Today, Latvian President Andris Berzins sent a letter of congratulations to newly-elected Finnish President Sauli Niinisto, wishing him success in this responsible position, the president’s press service informed LETA.

Berzins pointed out that the relations between Latvia and Finland are close and friendly with a far-reaching future perspective. He expresses hope to meet with Niinisto during the upcoming meeting of the Arraiolos Group presidents in Helsinki later this week.

As reported, yesterday, Niinisto convincingly triumphed in the second round of Finland's presidential elections. He received 62.6 percent of votes, whilst another candidate - Pekka Haavisto 37.4 percent.
