Vilks signs protocol of intent with an IMF

RIGA – Today [Dec. 7], Latvian Minister of Finance Andris Vilks (Unity) signed a protocol of intent with the International Monetary Fund, Aleksis Jarockis, head of the Finance Ministry’s Communication Department, told LETA.

On Latvia’s behalf, the document is yet to be signed by Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovksis (Unity), as well as by the heads of the Bank of Latvia and the Financial and Capital Market Commission. After that the document will be sent to IMF, where it will be reviewed by IMF experts and voted on by IMF board.

Another document, a protocol of intent with the European Commission, is currently being harmonized within the Commission, and it will later be presented to the government for signing.

“The main goal is to conclude the international loan program on Dec. 22,” said Jarockis.
