Tallinn’s popularity grows among Russian tourists

TALLINN - Year-end and New Year’s festivities sees the time when Tallinn becomes hugely popular among Russians living in Moscow and St. Petersburg, reports bbn.ee.

In ten monthsof 2012, Estonia has been visited by more Russian tourists than for the whole 2009, although the peak time is only starting.

“From January till September, Tallinn was visited by about 103,000 Russian tourists,”says Irina Svidlov from the Tallinn municipal enterprise board’s tourism unit.

Estonian coach operator Lux Express, national carrier Estonian Air and passenger train operators have promised to increase travel frequencies in order to accommodate the growing appetite among Russians to visit Estonia. Moreover, now Russians can also travel to Estonia by ferry from St. Petersburg.
