Estonia signed European Union-Iraq cooperation agreement

BRUSSELS- On Dec. 2, Foreign Minister Urmas Paet signed the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and Iraq in Brussels on behalf of Estonia.

“This cooperation agreement will improve Iraq’s involvement in the international arena, especially in cooperation with the European Union,” said Paet. “Reciprocal relations will expand significantly in the economic and trade sectors in accordance with the principles of the World Trade Organisation and the regulation of trade between Europe and Iraq will also improve,” he explained.

The agreement will also give added value to the socio-economic development of Iraq and the reforms the country has started making. It gives Estonia, as a European Union member state, the opportunity to intensify communication with Iraq when it comes to our bilateral economic relations.
