VILNIUS -- Lithuanian MP Juozas Palionis (Social Democratic Party) has been killed ina car crash when he collided with a lorry.
"We knew the late as a responsible, hard-working and constructive person who had worked 11 years in the Seimas, almost the entire 3 terms of office since 2000. Working in different committees and heading them in his previous terms of office, assuming the post of the deputy chairman of the Seimas' Committee on Budget and Finance at present, the late Palionis would manage to talk his fellows MPs into taking into consideration all opinions and he would be able to solve even the most complicated problems," said Seimas Speaker Irena Degutiene.
Lithuania has one of the highest road death rates in Europe.
