TALLINN -- Estonian cycling prodigy Rein Taaramäe has come in second in the youth division and 12th overall at this year's Tour de France, the best finish for an Estonian cyclist in history.

Taarmaäe, 24, was 11 minutes, 29 secondsbehind the eventual winner of the race, Australian Cadel Evans, and 46 seconds behind youth winner Pierre Rolland from France.

The late Jaanus Kuum had previously had the best finish in the Tour in 24th place, while famous cyclist Jaan Kirsipuu has worn the yellow jersey numerous times but never completed the race.
