VILNIUS -- Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has signed off on the long-awaited Jewish compensation bill, which will provide the Jewish community with money for the properties that were stolen in the early 20th century.

Grybauskaite's signature was widely expected after the parliament approved the bill in late June.

The bill foresees the creation of a fund worth 53 million USD to be administered by Lithuania's Jewish community organizations over the next decade.
