RIGA -- Acting KNAB chief Juta Strike has reinstated deputy director Alvis Vilks, who had been suspended by former KNAB chief Normunds Vilnitis.
Vilnitis was forced out of office earlier this month after a high-level report found that he had committed numerous violations while heading the country's anti-corruption bureau. His senior staff members had been complaining for years about his leadership.
Vilnitis sacked Vilks in May, citing a failure to report erronous information. A special commission later found that there was not enough evidence to prove Vilks' guilt.
