VILNIUS - Lithuanian opposition parties have announced that they will call a vote of no-confidence in Energy Minister Arvydas Sekmokas at the start of the Spring session of parliament on March 11.

The no-confidence vote comes on the heels of the resignation of Economy Minister Dainius Kreivys, who stepped down Tuesday over allegations of conflict of interest.

Unlike Kreivys, however, President Dalia Grybauskaite has said she will wholeheartedly support the energy minister.

"The president views the Minister of Energy’s performance positively and favourably," presidential spokesman Linas Balsys told reporters.
