Latvenergo to head to court over new tariff plan

RIGA - Latvian national energy company Latvenergo will be taken to court over its decision to raise tariffs as of April 1.

LETA reported that Kurzeme-based company "Satini-S" filed a petition against the new electricity tariffs, resulting in the case being transferred to a court in Liepaja.

The new tariffsa would foresee an increase in the cost of electricity for households that use more than 1,200 kilowatt/hours of power. Companies would be given the choice of three different plans.
