RIGA - Latvian KHL hockey team Rigas Dinamo has defeated it's Russian counterpart, Moscow Dynamo, in the first round of the playoffs to advance to the semi-finals.
Dinamo Riga deafeated the higher-ranked Russian team by 4 games to 2 in the best-of-seven series. Dinamo's second round opponent has not yet been determined.
Moscow Dynamo was ranked in 2nd place in the Western conference at the end of the regular season, while Riga barely made in into the playoffs in 7th place.
