RIGA - Hundreds of Latvian students took to the streets Monday to protest widespread cuts in the education sector.
LETA reported that the students marched to the cabinet of ministers wielding signs reading "Hands Off Higher Education!" and "Do Not Take Away Funding For Culture!"
The protest came as the government debated slashing a further 50 milloion lats from the national budget, with education again one of the items on the chopping block.
