RIGA - Latvia's anti-corruption bureau (KNAB) has launched a series of raids and made at least two arrests in connection to an investigation into alleged bribery by German carmaker "Damler" in providing Riga city with new buses.

KNAB said it conducted the investigation in conjunction with German authorities.

Between 2002 and 2006, Riga city bought a total of 117 Mercedes-Benz buses. KNAB said the case involves "improperly increased purchase prices" and "fraudulent payment of public officials".
