Estonian treasure hunter gets 100,000 euros for haul

TALLINN - An Estonian treasure hunter has been awarded nearly 100,000 euros from the state after handing over a find consisting of 1,300 silver coins.

The coins were found in a field in Harju county along with pottery, simple weapons, and other silver pieces. The find was dated to the 11th century. The coins were found to have originated from all around Europe.

According to Estonian law, the finder was entitled to half of the estimated value of the object, which totalled 198,126 euro.
