TALLINN - Estonia's national energy company has signed a deal with Alstrom to build the country's new power plant.
The plant will run on shale oil, of which Estonia is one of the world's leading producers. Alstrom, a French company, will build the new 950 million euro plant near the north-eastern city of Narva.
"The construction of the new power plant is an extraordinarily important investment for Estonia which will make the production of energy more environmentally-friendly in future," a spokesman for Eesti Energija told journalists.
