TALLINN - A Centre Party "truth commission" formed to look into allegations of corruption surrounding the decision by Tallinn city Mayor Edgar Savisaar to accept funding from Russia has declared the prominent party member innocent.

The centre party - which was founded by and is still headed by Savisaar - denied charges by KAPO that the mayor was "an agent of Russian influence".

Estonian secret service agency KAPO earlier released a document revealing that Savisaar had accepted substantial funding from Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin and accusing the mayor of being under Russian influence.
Savisaar claimed that the money was to be used to build an Orthodox church in the Estonian capital.
