Latvia-born Dutchman confesses to widespread child molestation

AMSTERDAM - A Dutch citizen originally from Latvia has confessed to molesting dozens of children and participating in a child pornography ring.

Roberts Mikelsons, a Latvian who emigrated to the Netherlands and received Dutch citizenship, worked as a substitute teacher for at least two preschools in Amsterdam and offered baby-sitting services online.

He has so far named more than 50 children that he abused. All of the victims were under 4 years-old.

Mikelsons, 27, along with his partner Richard van Olffen, are part of a worldwide pedophile network and the driving force behind a website "boyhoodmagazine.org".

The investigation is ongoing and authorities fear that the names of more victims may still emerge. "I fear that we will have to increase the total," said Amsterdam Mayor Eberhard van der Laan.
