ROME - Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has met with Pope Benedict while on a working visit to Rome.
"Lithuania supports efforts by the Holly See to foster inter-civilization dialogue and promote tolerance among different religious confessions. Vilnius, which has since long ago been home to different religious communities living in peace side by side, is an ideal place for an ecumenical dialogue," she said.
The President thanked the Holy See for the policy of non-recognition of Lithuania's annexation in the years of Soviet occupation, a press release from the president's office said.
