RIGA - Three people have died in a slew of fires that sprang up in Latvia over the weekend.
An unidentified man and womanwere found dead in a one-storey Rezekne home that caught fire Saturday afternoon. Investigators believe it was caused by smoking in bed combined with alcohol use.
In Riga, a 40-year-old man died in the hospital after being caught in a fire on Matisa Street.
Riga suffered two more smaller fires over the weekend in which nobody was killed.
