TALLINN -- The owners of the NordStream gas pipeline project, an underwater line that will connect Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea, have promised compensation to fishertmen from the Baltic States whose routes could be disturbed by the planned pipeline.
“Fishing has an important role in many communities by the Baltic Sea and our pipeline passes through some important fishing regions,” said NordStream’s Baltic states regional adviser Romans Baumanis.
The one-time payments will be made available to fishing boats that are capable of trolling the bottom of the sea.
