MOSCOW -- Russian Justice Minister Alexander Konovalovhas said the country could sue Nazi collaborators in Latvia and Estonia in response to the recent ECHR ruling on Vasily Kononov, a WWII Soviet soldier convicted of war crimes by Latvia.

"There is nothing to stop us from launching one or two symmetric lawsuits aimed at searching for those who shot scores of people in the Pskov, Tver and Smolensk regions," Konovalov said.

In May the ECHR upheld a Latvian appeal against a previous decision that found the country's detention of Kononov for WWII war crimes. Numerous Russian officials have condemned the decision.
