RIGA -- Latvian Transport Minister Kaspars Gerhards has walked out on a television interview after the host insisted he speak Russian, national news agency LETA reported.

The minister had reportedly informed them in advance that he would be speaking Latvian on the show and asked for a translator, but the host nonetheless insisted that he speak Russian.

When the minister refused, the show played a clip in which Gerhards had previously spoken Russian during an interview. Shortly later the minister walked out on the interview.
