RIGA - The newly formed political alliance "For a Good Latvia", also known as "AS2", has nominated Riga vice-mayor Ainars Slesers as the party's candidate for prime minister in the upcoming elections.
Slesers, renown as one of the country's so-called "oligarchs" for his extensive influence over politics and business, is one of the founding members of the new party along with fellow "oligarch" Andris Skele.
It was decided at a party meeting that Skele would be the alliance's candidate for finance minister.
