Seven Saeima candidates were KGB - report

RIGA - A report from the Totalitarian Legacy Documentation Center has found that seven candidates for the upcoming Saeima elections collaborated or may have collaborated with the KGB.

The law does not prohibit these persons from running in the election, but they had to make it known to voters that they had collaborated with the KGB. None of the election tickets submitted to the Central Election Commission includes such information.

Only one of the candidates, Arvids Ulme (Union of Greens and Farmers), has officially admitted to having worked with the KGB.
