RIGA - Visiting Israeli Foreign Minister Avdigor Lieberman, speaking to reporters following his meeting with Foreign Minister Aivis Ronis, expressed his concern about the revival of neo-Nazism not only in Riga, but in all of Europe. Lieberman was referring to the July 1 event in Riga honoring the entry of the German army in Latvia in 1941. Lieberman declared that such events are unacceptable, and that all sides must take steps to prohibit them. At the same time, he praised Latvia’s position on the event.

Ronis had urged Lieberman to avoid exaggerating the activities of a marginal group and its influence in the community. He underlined, nevertheless, that there can be no tolerance for the tone and the content of the event.

Both foreign ministers also reviewed bilateral relations and international developments. Also discussed was the return of former Jewish property in Latvia, reports ELTA.
