Airport customs officials detained for bribery

RIGA - Two customs officials at the Riga International Airport have been detained for accepting bribes to allow passengers to pass security checks without being searched.

Latvian national news agency LETA reported that the customs officials accepted bribes of 200 Ä—uros each to allow third persons to bypass customs control without being searched.

The corrupt officials were exposed during a June 10 sting operation conducted by State Revenue Service operatives.
