TALLINN -- Estonian Economy Minister Juhan Parts has announced that the government is on the verge of buying out Estonian Air, the country's largest airline.

Parts said the government was in talks with Scandinavian airline giant SAS to buy its 49 percent stake in the company, thus giving the government the controlling shares.

“Our stance has been that Estonian Air is a strategic company for the country and we are prepared to take a majority stake,”Parts was quoted by Bloomberg as saying.
