TALLINN -- NATO has announced that a key summit to be held on April 22 and 23 will go ahead despite earlier worries that it may have to be cancelled as a result of the volcanic ash cloud that has been hampering air travel across Europe.

The summitt is meant to allow NATO to review its role in world security.

There are doubts among some members about its combat mission in Afghanistan, the continuing presence of U.S. nuclear weapons in Europe, relations with Moscow and concerns about plans for expansion.
