VILNIUS -- Seimas (Lithuanian parliament) is considering a bill that would ban political advertising on television and radio in the next elections, which will take place in 2012.

The bill is aimed at further reducing spending in the country. The measure would force politicians to advertise only in outdoor settings and in other low-cost ways.

"These things require some really serious money,” said Jurgis Razma, the head of a commission set up to oversee the discussion over election advertising.
